The Golan Heights are a disputed territory between Israel and Syria: Israel captured the Golan Heights during the 1967 Six-Day War. History Israel and Syria have had intermittent negotiations since 1991, but they broke down in 2000. Talks were renewed in 2008 with Turkey's mediation, but they also fell apart.
