FPSC Screening Examination Methodology
The Federal Public Service Commission conducts nationwide screening tests for high-impact federal executive positions such as Inspector Customs, Assistant Director FIA, Prevention Officers, and Valuation Officers.
Standard Test Scheme
FPSC tests are divided into two distinct components:
- Part-I: English (20 Marks): Tests vocabulary, correct preposition usage, sentence structuring, and subject-verb agreement. Standard GRE/GAT level syntax is expected.
- Part-II: General Intelligence (80 Marks):
- Basic Arithmetic (20 Marks): Algebra, ratios, arithmetic mean, percentages, and simple equations.
- Everyday Science (20 Marks): Atomic structure, renewable energy, human biological systems, epidemics, and atmospheric sciences.
- Current Affairs & Pakistan Affairs (20 Marks): Bilateral agreements, national economic indicators, CPEC developments, and post-1947 political history.
- Islamic Studies / Ethics (20 Marks): Pillars of Islam, Sirat-un-Nabi, and Islamic economic principles.
Preparation Best Practices
Unlike provincial tests that emphasize rapid micro-facts, FPSC tests emphasize foundational conceptual clarity. Thorough preparation requires solving past 5 years’ consolidated papers and practicing speed arithmetic without calculators.
